Welcome to ElZa & Co. These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of our website and to all purchases of ElZa products and services.
By placing an order with ElZa & Co., you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
1. About ElZa & Co.
ElZa & Co. creates modern, handmade handbags and accessories, with selected items being made to order or customised according to the customer's requirements.
Because our products are handmade, no two pieces will be exactly identical. Small variations in colour, texture, sizing, stitching and finish are natural characteristics of handmade products and are not necessarily considered defects.
2. Products & Product Information
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, colours, dimensions and prices displayed on our website are accurate. However:
- Colours may appear slightly different depending on your device or screen settings.
- Handmade products may have minor variations from photographs.
- Measurements may vary slightly due to the handmade nature of our products.
- Product availability may change without prior notice.
ElZa & Co. reserves the right to correct genuine errors in product descriptions, pricing or availability.
Where a product is made to order, the estimated production time will be communicated to you before or after your order is placed.
3. Custom & Bespoke Orders
We love creating pieces that are uniquely yours. For customised or bespoke orders, the customer is responsible for providing accurate information regarding colour and the design preferences.
Once a bespoke order has been approved and production has commenced, changes may not be possible.
Custom or bespoke products may be subject to different cancellation and return conditions, as permitted by applicable South African consumer law.
4. Prices
All prices displayed by ElZa & Co. are in South African Rand (ZAR).
Prices are subject to change without notice. The price applicable to your order will be the price displayed at the time your order is placed, subject to any genuine pricing error.
Where applicable, delivery charges will be displayed separately before payment is completed.
5. Payment
Orders must be paid for in full before production or dispatch, unless otherwise agreed in writing by ElZa & Co.
We accept the payment methods made available on our website or communicated to you when placing an order.
An order will only be considered confirmed once payment has been successfully received and confirmed by ElZa & Co.
6. Made-to-Order Products
Some ElZa products may be made specifically after an order has been placed. The estimated production timeframe will be communicated at the time of purchase.
Production times may vary depending on:
- the product selected;
- customisation requirements;
- material availability;
- order volume; and
- circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Standard production time is 7 to 10 days, excluding delivery time. We will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed of any significant delays.
7. Delivery
ElZa & Co. delivers within South Africa using third-party courier services where applicable.
Delivery fees and estimated delivery times will be communicated at checkout or before the order is finalised.
Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by courier delays, public holidays, weather, incorrect delivery information or circumstances outside ElZa & Co.'s control.
The customer is responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address and contact details.
Once an order has been handed to the courier, ElZa & Co. cannot be held responsible for delays caused by the courier, although we will reasonably assist with resolving delivery issues.
8. Inspection on Delivery
Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after receiving it. If your product appears damaged, incorrect or materially different from what was ordered, please contact us within 7 days of delivery:

Please include your order number and clear photographs of the product and packaging where relevant.
9. Returns, Refunds & Exchanges
ElZa & Co. wants you to be happy with your purchase. Our returns, refunds and exchanges will be handled in accordance with the South African Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, where applicable.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to limit or exclude any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where a product is defective, damaged or does not correspond with the product ordered, please contact us within 7 days of receipt so that we can assess the issue and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
For change-of-mind returns, the applicable legal requirements, product condition, exclusions and return costs will apply.
Customised or bespoke products may be subject to specific return conditions, to the extent permitted by law.
10. Cancellations
If you wish to cancel an order, please contact ElZa & Co. as soon as possible.
For standard products that have not yet entered production or been dispatched, we will consider cancellation requests where reasonably possible.
For made-to-order or customised products, cancellation may not be possible once production has commenced, subject always to any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
11. Product Care
Our handbags are handmade and should be treated with care. Specific care instructions may vary depending on the materials used in your product.
Customers should:
- avoid exposing the bag unnecessarily to water or excessive moisture;
- avoid placing excessive weight inside the bag;
- keep the bag away from sharp objects that could catch or damage the yarn or cord;
- store the bag in a dry place when not in use; and
- follow any specific care instructions supplied with the product.
Normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse or failure to follow care instructions may not be considered a manufacturing defect.
12. Handmade Variations
The beauty of ElZa lies in the fact that each piece is made by hand. Minor differences in tension, stitching, texture, shape or finish may occur between products.
These variations are part of the handmade character of ElZa products and should not automatically be regarded as defects.
13. Intellectual Property
All content relating to ElZa & Co., including but not limited to:
- the ElZa name and branding;
- logos;
- photographs;
- product designs;
- written content;
- graphics;
- website content; and
- original patterns and creative materials
belongs to ElZa & Co. or is used with permission and may not be reproduced, copied, distributed or commercially exploited without prior written permission.
Purchasing an ElZa product does not transfer ownership of ElZa's intellectual property rights.
14. Photographs & Social Media
From time to time, ElZa & Co. may photograph products, workshops or events for marketing purposes.
Where photographs identify customers or workshop participants, ElZa & Co. will obtain appropriate permission where required.
Customers may be asked for permission to use photographs of their ElZa products for social media or marketing purposes.
15. Privacy
ElZa & Co. respects your privacy. Personal information collected through our website, orders, communications or other interactions will be handled in accordance with applicable South African privacy legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
We will only collect, use and retain personal information for legitimate business purposes and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
16. Third-Party Services
ElZa & Co. may use third-party service providers, including payment processors, courier companies, website providers and other service providers.
While we take reasonable care in selecting service providers, ElZa & Co. cannot guarantee the uninterrupted availability or performance of third-party services.
17. Website Use
You agree not to:
- use the website for unlawful purposes;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our website or systems;
- reproduce website content without permission;
- interfere with the operation or security of the website; or
- provide false or misleading information when placing an order.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by South African law, ElZa & Co. will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our website, products or services.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under applicable law.
19. Events Outside Our Control
ElZa & Co. will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances reasonably outside our control, including natural disasters, extreme weather, strikes, transport disruptions, power or telecommunications failures, supplier disruptions, government restrictions or other unforeseen events.
We will nevertheless make reasonable efforts to minimise any resulting impact on our customers.
20. Changes to These Terms
ElZa & Co. reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The latest version will be published on our website and will apply to future orders from the effective date stated above.
21. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any dispute will be dealt with in accordance with applicable South African law and the appropriate dispute-resolution mechanisms available to consumers.
